You may be wondering, “Where can I get my stimulus check?” if your friends and families have received theirs. The payments are not sent in alphabetical order or in any particular pattern. You do not need to do anything to get a stimulus payment. There are no sign-up requirements for the stimulus check. The government will gather the information it needs to send payments.

The IRS will not call, text, or email you for your Social Security number or banking information. However, even if you received the first stimulus check, you might not get a second payment. For example, the IRS may not send you a payment if you did not file a 2019 tax return. Unlike the first round of payments, the IRS will not refer to your 2018 taxes.

What to Do If You Did Not Get a Stimulus Check
Back 3 of 3

If you meet the requirements of eligibility for the stimulus check and do not receive one, you can claim it when you file your 2020 taxes.

You can claim both the first and second stimulus payments.

To claim missed government stimulus check payments, you will need to complete your 2020 Form 1040 or 1040-SR and claim the Recovery Rebate Credit.

If you are a non-filer – someone who does not normally file taxes – you can use the Non-Filers tool on the IRS website. You can also claim payments for dependent children.

If the IRS owes you a return, this amount will increase to include your missed stimulus payment(s). If you owe the IRS, your stimulus payments will go towards that debt.
